We have had reports of cyber criminals imitating court telephone numbers (“spoofing”) and demanding that citizens pay money for fines or fees in cases involving relatives. These calls are not valid. New Mexico Courts will never call citizens to ask for payments of any kind.

Family Court

The Second Judicial District Court has a specialized Family Court that has been in existence for over 30 years.

Cases include divorce, parentage, custody and visitation, child support, domestic violence, adult adoption, and kinship guardianship.  There are four judges and eight Domestic Relations Hearing Officers. The Honorable Debra Ramirez serves as the Presiding Judge. In addition to the judges, Family Court has three divisions: Domestic Violence, Child Support, and the Court Clinic.  The Family Court also has a specialized clerk division known as the Domestic Relations Clerk Division.  The Family Court is located on the second floor of the Downtown Courthouse.
