We have had reports of cyber criminals imitating court telephone numbers (“spoofing”) and demanding that citizens pay money for fines or fees in cases involving relatives. These calls are not valid. New Mexico Courts will never call citizens to ask for payments of any kind.
This division is responsible for resolving disputes between individuals, businesses, and local or state governments. These types of disputes include auto accidents, contract disputes, real estate disputes and violation of civil rights. Civil cases also include names changes and driver’s license restoration following DWI rehabilitation.
This division is responsible for all felony cases, appeals from Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court, extraditions of felons wanted in other jurisdictions, and requests for search warrants.
The Family Court Division processes all divorce cases filed in Bernalillo County, including custody and child support.
Children’s Court handles matters pertaining to youths under 18 years of age including adoption, child abuse and neglect, emancipation, delinquency, sealing of juvenile records and youthful offenders.
